Base order
Which payment methods are at the top of checkout, and in which order.
What it does
The payment methods you enter appear at the top of checkout, in the order of the list. All others follow in the order Shopify gives them. An entry the store doesn't currently offer is skipped.
The base order always applies, unless a rule with the action "Custom order" matches. Then that rule's order applies instead.
Entering payment methods
- Type the name of the payment method into the field and click "Add".
- Change the order with the up and down arrows.
- Remove an entry with the trash icon.
- Click "Save" in the bar at the top.
Part of the name is enough, and case doesn't matter: "PayPal" also matches "PayPal Express Checkout". A name needs at least 3 characters. Up to 10 entries.
What Shopify decides
- Shopify sets the order of the express checkout buttons at the top of checkout (Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay). The base order affects the list of payment methods below them.
- In Shop Pay, order and rules don't apply.
- Shopify decides which payment method is preselected. It doesn't have to be the top one.
